The Artist's Basement

I drew and inked these guys. Then thought hey, these might look cool shaded with pen instead of full color. Then I thought they looked like paper monsters, and I thought neat... and drew a basement with a chessboard floor for them to crawl across and water-stained grimy wallpaper.

The lighting and shadow effects were done using photoshop. Everything else - lining, shading, coloring, I did with Copic markers and multiliners.

My end goal by the time I finished the basement was to capture that "Shining your flashlight in a dark corner and finding hellish monsters" visual from Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and similar survival horror games for the original PlayStation. So... I guess that sort of makes this like a cross between Paper Mario and Silent Hill...?
