Mind Unfinished by thedreamingthree Mind Unfinished by thedreamingthree
I've always been a fan of artificial intelligence and the bridge between the human condition and the next generation of sentience. This is a piece originally done fully in Copic marker (a mix of Sketch and regular, as available) and Multiliner. I plan to upload the original, unedited version as well.

This piece has a personal resonance to me. In 2010 I had lumbar spinal fusion surgery. What we then thought were surgical complications revealed themselves to be neuralgia, and here in 2012, I often feel like the Artificial Person in this image - a mind without arms or legs, sight impaired, mute, experiencing and interacting with the world in limited ways. I am not in as bad a situation as this character... but I have the vision of my future, as my body slowly dismantles itself.

I work with traditional art primarily because it engages more senses than sight - the crisp of paper, the smell of ink, the tactile change in paper as marker coats it. When I edit an image to better fit its target concept, I will always be sure to upload the traditional, unedited version as well.

Very nice job. I am still thoroughly impressed with your rib and brain behind the glass!

Thank you so much! I'm going to upload the marker-only version, which does not include the background, because the background was created and edited digitally. I realized after I posted this that the background looked pretty neat... then worried that my wording wasn't clear enough and people thought I did THAT from scratch too...!

Thank you so much for your kind comment. It really made my night and made me smile, and that's not always easy to do.
